For the past five years I have been studied media in both high school and college, which has developed a personal passion in animation, film and digital imaging. I created various different products such as animations using both Stop Motion and Flash, short films, DVD covers and Posters. Due to the fact I have a very active imagination I spend a lot of my time creating, animating and drawing fictional characters and creatures, the major influences include Tim Burton films, video games and Graphic Novels. Since that point I have obtained an obsession in fictional characters rather admiring those that exist already or trying to create my own.

This year whilst I’ve been studying Art & Design, I have creates a lot of different characters and caricatures. Projects I have been set where to bring in found items and use them to create a new structure and then neutralise them. For this project I collected various objects and used Barbies as a main theme to use. Other projects I have been set were to create a puppet of another pupil in the class, in which I chose my friend Katherine, since her nickname is ‘Kat’ I decided to play on this feature to make her puppet an actual cat. My other pieces are made when making a collage from using horse skeletons, from which I made skeletons of new horse-like creatures. I found one of them very amusing and bizarre so I decided to make one calling it a ‘Hicken’ (cross between a horse and a chicken), using a ‘My Little Pony’ because of they are cute and they look ‘cartooney’, which should add to the amusing look.

I am interested in this course because of the fact you can study different subjects such as animation, video and digital imaging which are all of my passions and I feel with my creativity I can make different projects very successfully and obtain more skills and confidence in my own work. And because of my imagination I can use different mediums to make a project.
